Solving PDF Printing Issues with Flattening

Modified on Mon, 20 Nov, 2023 at 4:24 PM

Encountering printing anomalies, such as unusual artifacts, is common when printing PDFs containing transparent images on certain printers. Several tools are available to address these occasional but specific challenges. For instance, Nitro PDF offers a feature to flatten PDFs, effectively resolving these printing issues.

Memento Yearbook has introduced a 'Flatten PDF' feature to combat these problems. This option, once enabled, allows users to choose between downloading the standard, layered PDF, ideal for companies that apply image effects to enhance print quality, and a flattened version for troubleshooting specific printing issues with a particular yearbook.

It's crucial to note that Memento Yearbook flattens PDFs by converting them into a complete JPG image at 300 DPI. This process is designed to eliminate any potential printing problems.

Instructions for Activating PDF Flattening:

  1. Navigate to the 'Customization' Tab on the left-hand side of the interface.
  2. Click on the 'Proofing' Tab within this section.
  3. Toggle on the 'Upload Flattened PDFs' option.
  4. Finally, click on 'Save Proofing Settings' to apply these changes.

Download Layered or Flattened PDF

After approving the proofing PDF, clicking the 'Download' button will present you with two options.
